Anti-Encroachments Department of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) launched another big operation show against encroachments in many areas of Saddar and M A Jinnah Road on Friday night.
The anti-encroachments staff removed cabins, patharas, pushcarts, counters, tables, drums and other encroachments from roads and pavements at Empress Market, Saddar, Rainbow Centre, Pakistan Chowk, Fresco Chowk, Burns Road and other densely populated streets in the areas.
The operation was supervised by Senior Director Anti-Encroachments Mazhar Khan along other officers in presence of rangers and police. The ongoing drive against roadside encroachments would continue for three days and the department would also setup six camps during the operation at Mina Bazaar, Karimabad, Ancholy, Haidery Market, Jama Cloth Market, Tariq Road and Liaquatabad Market to keep a check on the establishment of encroachments.
Citizens allege that in the same areas encroachments have had been set up under the patronage of KMC staff and policemen, and it would take no time to the encroachments to reemerge in these areas after the current operation is finished.
