All arrangements have already been finalized for the first Karawood international film festival in Pakistan and in this regard KWIFF has received 140 films from Pakistan and other countries.
The festival will begin on the fourth day of Eid in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. The best films in different categories will be given cash prizes of $5000, $3000, and $2000. However, the best feature film will get a grand award.
In this regard a memorandum of understanding was signed between Cinepax and KWIFF.
CEO of the first Karawood film festival Batool Khan addressing a red-carpet ceremony at a local Mall said that this festival will break the inertia from local film industry. She said promotion of cinema and film industry in Pakistan is there mission.
President of the first Karawood film festival Khalid Khan said this festival would help in further promoting the soft image of Pakistan in whole world. He said Pakistan is a peaceful country having ample scope for the cultural activities.
CEO of Cinepax Hashim Raza said this crucial festival would prove a milestone for Pakistani film and cinema industry and would surely help in the revival of this important industry.
Junaid Hashmi, CEO of HICHAIV said films of international standard could also be made in Pakistan. He said we have a lot of talent but lack proper resources.
Model Nadia Khan said that we hope that this film festival would be highly successful and provide entertainment to people.
Film star Imran Abbas suggested that film festival should be made an annual event and arranged regularly.
Naheed Shabir said Pakistani artists and actors are very talented and they should be promoted.
Hassan Soomro said it is necessary that the government of Pakistan should support our film industry.
Anam Aqeel, Faiq Khan, Samyata Ahmed, Fahim Abbas, Sumera Aziz, Asad Khan, Izik Suleman and others also spoke.
