The certificate distribution ceremony of students volunteer program batch 40th was organized by the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) here on Saturday.
The week-long program attracted school and college students from different parts of the city, who took part in various activities related to patients care. This program is an annual feature of SIUT and extremely popular in the students community of Karachi.
Speaking on the occasion, SIUT’s Director Prof Dr Adibul Hasan Rizvi said that the program is very important for students at this young age, as they are the real future of Pakistan. He said program is designed to help them to learn and understand the problems and sufferings facing fellow human beings, which not only brings a positive change in their outlook in life but also benefits entire society.
He said during this training, the students are informed about the guidelines of patients medical care in the field of radiology, clinical laboratory, dialysis, transplantation, lithotripsy, surgical and other medical services.
The core principles of community service are taught to the students during this training, Prof Rizvi disclosed. The importance of community service in the society cannot be emphasized, as it not only refines the person but also provides direction and sense of purpose.
The current batch of summer vacation included 162 students who completed a comprehensive 30-hour training program, whereas over 4000 students representing various educational institutions from all over Karachi attended the program so far. The ceremony was attended by a large number of parents, teachers and students.
