Majeed AbbasiA Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Majeed Abbasi, was shot dead in Site area of the metropolis here on Tuesday.

Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) SITE area Majeed Abbas was shot dead in an armed attack when he was patrolling in Karachi on Tuesday.

According to reports, the assassination of DSP Majeed Abbas took place in Shah Latif Town where unknown gunmen riding on motorbikes opened fire on his vehicle leaving him and his driver severely injured.

The critically injured police officer was immediately shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center. Police arrived at the scene and started investigation.
Majeed Abbas was serving as a DSP Site Industrial Area of Karachi.

It may be noted that Abbasi was an executive member of a team investigating Baldia factory fire case. He left behind a widow, two daughters and a son.

Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah took the notice of the incident and directed IG Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali to submit the report and ensure immediate arrest of the attackers.

After visiting the crime scene, DIG East, Munir Sheikh told the reporters that four attackers on two motorbikes attacked the DSP, using 9 mm pistol and Kalashnikov.

He said an operation was underway to track down the attackers.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who is in Tajikistan on two-day visit, has expressed his concern over the assassination and directed authorities to submit a report in this regard, a statement said.
