Nur Khan Memorial Open Golf Championship started at PAF Golf Club Peshawar on Monday. According to a PAF press release, Air Vice Marshal Shahid Akhtar Alvi, Air Officer Commanding, Northern Air Command inaugurated the Championship. 200 golfers from all over the country including top ranking professionals are competing for the prestigious trophy.

The Championship carries Rs 1.3 million as prize money which is the highest for any golf tournament in KPK. The newly introduced championship has been named after legendary Air Marshal Nur Khan to pay tribute to his meritorious services for the country.

The three day mega event will be played over 54 holes with each player playing 18 holes each day. Various categories of the championship include professional, senior professionals, amateurs, senior amateurs, veterans, ladies and boys under 14 and under 17.

Waheed Baloch is leading after playing 18 holes today?s with a score of gross 8 under par (64) while Munir, Asif, Raja Israr are tied at second position with gross 5 under par (67).

Pakistan?s No 1 golfer Shabbir Iqbal and Matloob Hussain are tied and trailing at gross 4 under par (68). In the senior pro category Imdad Hussain is leading with gross score of 5 under par (67). In the amateurs category Taimoor Khan of PAF is in the lead with the gross score of 70.
