The decision of Delhi dardevils to spend 16 crore to bring Yuvraj Singh in their squad has been a major disappointment for the Delhi fans. He has not even played like a low budget player if his stats are analysed. According to final figures we have after Delhi’s season end, he played 14 matches in which he scored only 248 runs. His highest score is 57 with the average of 19.07 in all matches. Strike rate is 118.09.

Matches – 14, Runs – 248, Highest – 57, Average – 19.07, Strike Rate – 118.09 – that’s what Delhi Daredevils got for their Rs. 16 crore this year. According to their investment of $3.31 million, Delhi dardevils have paid $13,347 for each run that he scored.

The Management must have crossed fingers over the dizzy investment that others backed out of during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 8 players’ auction and when he failed to perform according to his price tag GMR-owned franchise admitted that Yuvraj’s price was just “market driven” and they paid more than he deserved.

He scored two half centuries in 13 matches. Seeing his performance in the IPL, we can demonstrate that he only play well occasionally. He is 33 years and not old enough to get exhausted. He must have shown some potential.

Yuvraj is not the same match-winner anymore, in fact he never was a match-winner in the IPL. All the franchises he’s represented over IPL career have failed to go anywhere near the crown .Yuvraj’s 248 runs came at a poor average of 19.07 and strike rate of 118.09, which put him as low as No. 29 on the list of season’s top scorers.

We cannot forget his incredible innings against England bowler Stuart Broad, when he smashed six sixes in his over. He used to play with aggression. There was not a single bowler who was not frightened of him. There is doubt, he has played very well in the Indian cricket team but in IPL, he has not been that effective.
