Shabana Azmi, the experienced actress and theatre artist, deplores at the 68th Cannes International Film Festival on how latest fashion is eradicating the attention from cinema. She also said that the film affair ought to be dealt with genuinely and not as a style parade ground. “2day Cannes seems to b a clothes parade! It’s a serious film festival guys not a fashion event. Hw abt focussing on films n filmakers (sic),” Shabana tweeted on Friday.
The “Arth” actress likewise shared some of her recollections from the French Riviera who need to be a piece of the film festival with her discriminatingly acclaimed film “Nishant”, which was released in the 1970s. Shyam Benegal, the director of the film, imitated the life of a teacher and his wife together with clues of the misuse because of zamindari (landowner) system.
“When v went 2 Cannes with Nishant in competition v only had 8USD each n publicity material didn’t turn up. Shyam Benegal thot up a strategy,” she posted.

“He made Smita P n me parade in Kanjivaram saris from 8am! Ven ppl lookd at us curiously v wud rush n say pls watch our film! V had a fullhouse (sic),” the actress wrote.
In the meantime, the first glimpse of her film “Jazbaa”, which has Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in lead role, will be showcased at the Cannes film festival at a close door United Nations panel discussion on May 16, trailed by a media occasion on May 19.
Aishwarya is going to attend the Cannes as a L’Oreal Paris brand ambassador. In the fest, she will disclose the first look of the film. The film, directed by Sanjay Gupta, expresses the former beauty queen’s comeback to Bollywood after motherhood.
