President Provincial Nurses Association (PNA) Karachi Division Salamati Khokhar has demanded of the high-ups of Sindh health department to fill the shortage of nurses in public hospitals.
Khokhar said a significant number of posts are lying vacant in various healthcares across Sindh since last last four years, which needs to be filled.
She said currently a nurse is covering over 100 patients during duty, resultantly, nursing care of patients is adversely affected. She said Punjab and other provinces had increased the salaries and allowances of staff nurses but in Sindh province, they have been receiving 11000 less salary.
She further informed that Punjab government had promoted 1200 nurses in next grades recently but in our province, the nurses are awaiting promotions. She said young diploma holders nurses are going to other countries for employment due to unavailability of jobs in the province.
