Omair Sana Foundation (OSF) organized a candlelight vigil ceremony in Press Club and also held a walk on Shahrah-e-Faisal with Khadim Ali Shah Bukhari Institute of Technology (KASBIT) to create awareness regarding the disease.
These events are part of 15-day thalassaemia awareness campaign in the back drop of World Thalassaemia Day. Thalassaemia children, parents, students, doctors, journalists and other members of civil society participated in these events. The candlelight vigil was led by Dr Saqib Ansari.
The participants showed commitment to eradicate Thalassaemia from the society. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ansari said awareness is vital for Thalassaemia eradication from the society.
Earlier, Omair Sana Foundation and Khadim Ali Shah Bukhari Institute of Technology (KASBIT) collaborated in managing a thalassaemia awareness walk in which a large no of students and teachers participated.
They were holding banners and placards with various slogans of test before marriage, law implementation and volunteer blood donation. The walk was led by Prof Mohammad Raees Alvi, the director KASBIT. Obaid Hashmi, Prof Kramat Shah , Dr Syed Rahat Hussain and other were also present.
Later, talking to the audience at Karachi Press Club, Dr Ansari said that Omair Sana Foundation is struggling for eradication and prevention of thalassaemia for last 10 years.
