In a crucial match of the Indian Premier League, two middling teams in the tournament – Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) – fight for survival in Mirpur tonight. This is deemed a home match for the Delhi team. They do not have a particularly good record in their original home venue – Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi. They will hope that Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur will bring them better luck.
They will need all the luck in the world, as a defeat would put them out of the tournament. Sunrisers are placed slightly better, but still a defeat is unthinkable for them as well.
Preview – DD
Daredevils have their task cut out. They have to win their next three matches. They have eight points from 11 games. Three wins will take their points tally to 14 and into the playoffs reckoning. The problem is that it has been quite a long time since they won three matches in a row.
JP Duminy and Shreyas Iyer have been in fine form with the bat. Their bowling too has been one of the best in the tournament. What they need is a spectacular innings from Yuvraj Singh. If he finds his rhythm, Delhi Daredevils will be unstoppable.
Preview – SRH
At long last, the Hyderabad side has found their best combination. Strangely, it involves resting two of the world’s best bowlers: Dale Steyn and Trent Boult. The batting was heavily reliant on David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan. Eoin Morgan played a blinder of an innings in the last game against Rajasthan Royals. The Hyderabad team wants him to keep on firing. Despite resting Steyn and Boult, they do have a high quality bowling attack.
But SRH appears the better team. But DD is going to give its all to stay alive in the tournament.
